How is hail damaged assessed on a car?

When you bring your vehicle in for hail damage in Baltimore/Glen Burnie, we will first look at your car. Not all hail damage is repairable. We will do a preliminary evaluation on your vehicle and take a look and make sure it’s a candidate for 100% Paintless Dent Removal, or see if it needs a traditional body shop as well.

We consider things like large dents, stretched metal, paint that is cracked, the windshield, parts that have been destroyed, damaged, or broken. For paint that has cracked, we need to work with our partner shops to replace those panels.

Once we assess your car, we work with you to start filing an insurance claim if you have not. You have the choice to choose any body shop you want to work with, and we are all warrantied the same way. Your insurance may try to talk you into going into one of their shops, but you have the right to choose any shop.  Choose a shop based on reputation, your gut, and the reviews online of previous customers. Check Google, Yelp, and do some due diligence to make sure you are comfortable.

When we bring your car in and drop it off, we will write a complete estimate. We need to count each dent on every panel. We measure hail by coin size. We will take how many dents are on a specific panel and a particular size, put them in a matrix, and the matrix tells us the price. Everyone in the industry is paid the same by the insurance company. For the most part, the matrix regulates our prices, so don’t worry about getting many estimates from different companies. Base your decision on who is going to repair your car back to factory condition, not who is the least expensive. To you, price is a moot point. Your insurance with the proper coverage will be paying for the repair.

We also consider the R&I (remove and install) that will be done on the car. After we count dents on the panels, price out the parts that need to be replaced. The parts, R&I, dent count, and anything else to complete the repair are all added together, and this is how we get our final price to repair your vehicle.

This process can be confusing; we are here to fill in the blanks.
